The Section of Pediatric Pulmonology at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago is seeking to recruit a full time pediatric pulmonologist-pediatric sleep specialist at assistant/associate professor level. Applicant must be board certified or eligible in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine (ABSM or ABMS-sleep).
Rush Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents with pulmonary disorders. The program offers advanced care for complex asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, interstitial lung diseases and pulmonary complications of chronic disorders such as muscular dystrophy and scoliosis, in addition to cystic fibrosis. Rush CF team, in addition to adult and pediatric CF physicians, has full participation by gastroenterology, endocrinology and infectious disease specialists as well as advanced nurse practitioner, respiratory therapist, social worker, dietitian, and a genetic counselor. Rush CF center was one of the three CF centers in the country to receive an award for outstanding partnership from CF Foundation. The section has a bronchoscopy service and a state of art pediatric pulmonary function lab with facilities for exercise and cold air challenge, metabolic exercise studies, and impulse oscillometry. The section is actively involved in the Rush Clinic for Young Athletes, Clinic for Antenatally Diagnosed Disorders, pulmonary care of patients with sickle cell disease, and a neuromuscular pulmonary clinic. Clinical duties would include providing patient care in out-patient clinics (pediatric pulmonary, CF, and neuromuscular), in-patient service, consults in pediatric unit, NICU, and PICU. Other duties would include teaching medical students and residents.
Rush has an existing, two-bed pediatric sleep lab. The sleep lab (designed by Bill Gran of Proteus, formerly HLM Design) is one component of a $4.5 million renovation of one of our buildings that was featured in the Architectural Design Showcase of Healthcare Design magazine as an example of a superior ambulatory healthcare facility for children. Opportunities exist for research collaboration with the faculty of RUMC’s eight-bed, AASM-accredited sleep disorders center.
